I should have entered this last Friday. Went for a mountain bike ride with Gary and Jim on a trail that was the old highway to Big Bear. Rode up for about 3 hours. First mountain bike ride in many years so it was a slow grind in low gear but I made it to the top. The guys were patient enough with me to wait at several spots along the trail. The weather was great, in the 70s, in contract to our temp in the desert. Awesome ride back down the trail. It only took us about 45 minutes to get back down. Here's a link to the map of the ride:  http://bicyclepalmsprings.com/MtnBike/AngelusOaks.html

Time to get real serious about shedding 20 pounds.

Signed up for the Metric Century at Cycle Fest. The route went up 1000 Palms Canyon, 5 miles up hill. Temp hit the mid to high 90's. Got up the hill but it drained all the energy out of me. Started cramping when I got down to the flat part and cut the ride short. Only did 50 miles. Totally whipped at the end.

New front derailleur

The spring stop broke on the front derailleur on my trusty Motobecane and it's been a week without a ride. I take that back, I did take an old 10 speed out but it was no fun at all!

Received my new derailleur in the mail yesterday and put it on this morning. Went out for a spin on my 15 mile hill route and all is good. Mid 70's this morning and the usual wind held off until the afternoon.

Back in the saddle

Finally, it's above 60 degrees, my minimum requirement for riding. That and no wind. Took a ride out Indian Canyon to Worsley to Pierson to Catus to Mission Lakes Blvd and home yesterday. Will hit it again today after the chiropractor gets done with me.
